I attended highschool in Central Saanich BC.
Why did you choose Sprott Shaw College?
I chose Sprott Shaw because my sister had attended Sprott Shaw and recommended it to me, and it was the closest and highest-rated VA program I had looked into
How was the admissions process?
It was easy, and everyone was so helpful and kind.
What program did you choose and why?
Veterinary Assistant, because I enjoy working with animals and have always wanted to be the voice for them, since they don’t have one.
What was the environment like during your time at Sprott Shaw College?
It was friendly, welcoming, and very supportive of students and teachers.
Where was your practicum or co-op and how was it?
I completed my Practicum at Garry Oak Veterinary Hospital and was hired immediately after the practicum. I enjoyed it so much and have been working with them since completing my practicum.
How long did it take you to find a job after graduation?
I didn’t need to; my practicum host hired me before I completed it.
Where do you work? Can you explain your duties?
Garry Oak Veterinary Hospital. I am a receptionist as well as the assistant for the DVM, taking histories of patients, admitting, discharging, filling medications, restraining animals, and providing a clean work environment.
If you could give advice to someone coming to Sprott Shaw, what would you say?
Buy an HP laptop, it makes life and school way easier, and it is much easier to complete and hand in schoolwork.
Is there anything else you would like to share?
I was blessed with one of the most supportive and helpful teachers, and I couldn’t have enjoyed my time at Sprott Shaw without her.
