We are proud to introduce our valedictorians who graduated last week from our Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Maple Ridge, and Surrey campuses, marking the end of one fulfilling chapter and the start of an exciting new one. Their graduation ceremonies are the culmination of months of hard work, dedication, and growth. We are immensely proud of them and honoured to have them represent Sprott Shaw College. You can find a short excerpt from each of their inspiring valedictorian speeches below.
Congratulations Class of 2025 – you did it!
Abbotsford Valedictorian: Kathrine Connors – Practical Nursing

Kathrine Connors, our valedictorian representing the Abbotsford campus, shared a personal story about how her career as a care aide inspired her to pursue practical nursing, and she thanked her family, friends, and instructors for their support.
“…I’ll leave you with a quote: ‘The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.’ So go into the world and do well, but more importantly, go into the world and do good. Congratulations, grads. I’m so proud of each of you, and I hope that you’re proud of yourselves.”
Chilliwack Valedictorian: Agnes Asu Ntua – Health Care Assistant
Agnes Asu Ntua, our valedictorian representing the Chilliwack campus, gave a moving speech about the obstacles overcome, effort dedicated, and dreams pursued that led herself and her fellow graduates to where they are today.
“So as we leave Sprott Shaw and step into hospitals, classrooms, boardrooms, hotels, labs, and beyond, let us lead with courage. Let us show up with integrity. And above all, let us never forget that we didn’t just earn certificates, we earned confidence, resilience, and the right to dream even bigger.”

Maple Ridge Valedictorian: Jade Temple-Swindells – Community Support Worker – Social Services

Jade Temple-Swindells, our valedictorian representing the Maple Ridge campus, reflected on the skills and memories that her and her classmates gained during their time at Sprott Shaw College. She also expressed her gratitude for the loved ones and instructors that supported the graduating class along the way.
“While it wasn’t always easy, each change taught us something new. And through it all, we showed resilience, supported one another, and continued moving forward. We’ve come out stronger, more adaptable, and ready for whatever comes next.”
Surrey Valedictorian: Alexander Beard – Health Care Assistant
Alexander Beard, our valedictorian representing the Surrey campus, thanked the Sprott Shaw team members that made a positive impact on his education journey, and he dedicated his speech to his fellow Health Care Assistant graduates.
“To my classmates, I want to say: keep learning and keep growing. Education doesn’t stop here. In a diverse and ever-changing world, continuous learning helps us better understand each other and provides more inclusive, thoughtful care. That growth is what strengthens our communities and our hearts.”
