Paper Airplane Contest – Win a $300 Campus Prize!

Did you know that Sprott Shaw used to be a flight school? In honour of our history in aviation and National Paper Airplane Day, Sprott Shaw College will be hosting a Paper Airplane competition on Monday, May 26th! Students will compete at a campus level during the first round. The winner of that round will compete against all other campuses across BC.

The longest distance flight wins!

The winning campus will receive a $300 campus prize. This prize can be used for a campus celebration, charity donation, or more!

Rules:

  • Standard 8.5” x 11” sheet of paper (1 per plane, no cuts or glue).
  • No paper clips, tape, or weights.
  • One throw per student (students will have an opportunity to have practice flights).
  • Distance measured from start line to final resting spot.
  • Longest distance of all events will be recorded.

Practice Flight Dates: May 22 & May 23

Contest Takes Place: May 26th 12:15-1:00pm

First Flight: 12:15 pm | Campus-Level Competition | 2 Attempts Per Contestant

Student with the longest distance will be selected to represent the campus at the provincial-level

Final Flight: 12:45pm | Province-Level Competition | 3 Attempts Per Contestant

All distances will be recorded by the directors to the Sprott Shaw air traffic controller who will then announce the final campus winner through the Sprott Shaw College App!
