From Corporate Life to Childcare: Indy Dhial’s Inspiring Journey

Written on 12/09/2025

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to completely change careers and find your true calling? For Indy Dhial, that leap meant leaving a 16-year corporate career to pursue his passion for working with children. Today, he is not only a proud Early Childhood Educator (ECE) graduate from Sprott Shaw College Kelowna, but also a successful childcare center owner making a real impact in his community.

In our recent interview, Indy shared how his love for coaching youth and raising his own children inspired him to enroll in the ECE Basic program. With the support of his instructor, Carla Hughes, and guidance from the college team, Indy transitioned smoothly into the childcare field. His experience in class was “fun, engaging, and highly educational,” and the hands-on practicums opened doors to job offers at every placement.

Within a year of completing the program, Indy and his family opened their own childcare center, a testament to how practical skills and strong mentorship can lead to incredible opportunities. Today, Indy continues to advocate for childcare and family support in Kelowna.
